You can think of the readings as a computer assisted manual palpation. You use the PulStar to test each vertebral level much as you would test each level manually for differences in temperature, tissue resistance, joint mobility, etc. The key word here is differences. We display the results of the analysis as differences to allow you to concentrate on the differences in stiffness down the spine just as you would with manual palpation. When you examine a child versus a truck driver, you automatically focus on the differences (the truck driver is likely to be stiffer overall than the child who is much more flexible). Similar techniques are used to clarify the display of data especially in sophisticated state-of-the-art MRI and CT scans.
